Apple hiring veterans of the automotive industry

Apple is not a stranger in the automotive sector for which it proposes in particular carplay system. But since the beginning of the year, rumors lend the firm to even greater ambitions.

Apple is thus suspected of floor on a electric car project, code-named Titan. And according to the Wall Street Journal, recent hires could well support this scenario. Doug Betts, former quality manager of Fiat Chrysler says on his LinkedIn profile have joined Apple in July. Its exact function is not mentioned.

Electric Car, autonomous, or something else?

But to the WSJ, it would not the first recruitment of a professional in the automotive industry. Apple has also hired specialized European researchers in autonomous vehicles, including Paul Furgale. The manufacturer would have set up a team to work on the development of these systems.

A complaint filed this year by the battery manufacturer A123 Systems also reported poaching conducted by Apple experts batteries. What confirm the will of the Cupertino company to launch its own electric car?

Difficult to judge, recognizes the WSJ ones would require Apple has hired several hundred people to develop Titan project. The direction of this unofficial division was entrusted to Steve Zadesky, designer and former Ford engineer.
