ORLANDO, U.S. – United States, Casey Anthony, the young woman recently acquitted of murdering her 2 year old, was released around midnight Saturday night from the prison in Florida where she was detained.
This case has fascinated Americans and the verdict on July 5 has angered many of them. Security had been increased significantly outside the prison, where there were few protesters.
Anthony, looking somber with her eyes cast downward, said “thank you” to a jailer in the few seconds it took to escort her to the waiting SUV.
The young 25 year old woman was found not guilty of murdering her daughter Caylee, disappeared in June 2008. However, it had been convicted of lying to investigators, including saying that her daughter had been abducted by her guardian, which never existed.
Caylee’s remains were discovered in December 2008 in a wooded area near the home of Casey Anthony. Her lawyers argued that she had drowned in a family pool.
