Tournament in Key Biscayne – Nadal and Djokovic in quarterfinals

Key Biscayne, Florida – Rafael Nadal won five games in a row in the middle of the match and raced to a 6-4, 6-4 against Kei Nishikori in Key Biscayne,  as a reward with a spot in the quarterfinals yesterday.

Nadal, seeded second, was beaten three times in the final in this tournament. He tries to win a first trophy since Roland Garros last year. Nadal won 78% of the points played on his first serve, against 58% for his rival. He also withstood six break points in eight, while the Japanese have saved the day that six out of 10.

The Spaniard bowed in last year’s final against Novak Djokovic, and they could again have to face. Djokovic, the favorite, reached the quarterfinals by beating 17th-seeded Richard Gasquet 7-5, 6-3.

The American Mardy Fish (No .8 ) defeated 12th-seeded Nicolas Almagro 6-3, 6-7 (2), 6-3.
Janko Tipsarevic, of Serbia, has eliminated 20 years the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov 7-6 (3), 6-2.

On the ladies side, the second seed Maria Sharapova became the first player to reach the semifinals when she knocked the defending champion at Roland Garros Li Na 6-3, 6-0.
