Tennis – WTA technique: Zvonareva from Russia has risen to second place

On Monday Russian Vera Zvonareva has climbed to second ranked WTA technique due to her performance in the tournament in Toronto Canada where she left off in the third round.

Zvonareva pushed back to third place Belgian Kim Clijsters who missed her return to competition in Toronto by abandoning the second round because of an abdominal injury.

Another Russian, Maria Sharapova, has dropped from 5th to 7th place to find themselves behind two winning Grand Slam tournaments – Na Li (China) Petra Kvitova (Czech Republic).

Australia’s Samantha Stosur, a finalist in the Toronto tournament, returns to the Top 10 WTA technique.

WTA ranking technique to August 15 is as follows:

2 (3). Vera Zvonareva (Russia) – 7045;

3 (2). Kim Clijsters (Belgium) – 6726;
