Rugby: Thierry Dusautoir, IRB Player of the Year

AUCKLAND, New Zealand – The captain of the Quinze of France, Thierry Dusautoir was named Player of the Year by the International Rugby Board (IRB) on Monday .

On Sunday Dusautoir who was named man of the match to mark the defeat of his team in the final of the World Cup against New Zealand (7-8), was the only player in the Northern Hemisphere list of six prospective players to receive this prestigious award, in which also included three All Blacks and two Australians.

The choice to retain Dusautoir was announced at a banquet in which New Zealand was named Team of the Year and New Zealand coach Graham Henry coach of the year for leading his team to the world title 24 years after his first title in 1987.

Thierry Dusautoir had entered the trial in France in the final and completed, also 22 tackles.
