Fowler, a young sensations of the circuit, had a superb approach at the first extra hole and rigged a four-foot putt for birdie. So he did better than Rory McIlroy and DA Points and won the Wells Fargo Championship yesterday.
Fowler, aged 23, attended a 67th PGA Tour event as a professional. There is already one of the most popular golfers on the circuit, particularly to children. Wearing orange clothes, he carded a final 69 (- 3) and snuck in extra points when committed his first bogey of his final round on the final hole.
The only other victory as a professional Fowler had occurred in South Korea last year.
Canadian David Hearn played a round of 71 and concluded the tournament tied for 65th in a row.
