The International Olympic Committee (IOC) launched an investigation against the former president of the Federation International Football Association (FIFA), Joao Havelange, suspected of having received a jar of wine, the Guardian said on Friday.
The IOC Brazilian official suspects, aged 95 years, touching a pot of wine a million dollars from the company ISL, FIFA‘s former partner. The investigation was launched following a subject broadcast by the BBC in the Panorama program in November 2010.
“The IOC is very attentive to information about the jars of wine in the international sports organizations. Also, after the BBC broadcast on it as part of the show the View, we asked the whole information available to it on this case. We will not fail to conduct the investigation forward, ” official of the IOC said.
Joao Havelange has led FIFA for 24 years, from 1974 to 1998.
