Djokovic-Federer-final before the final

NEW YORK, U.S. – Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer could face off in one of two semi-finals of the United States.

The draw for the last Grand Slam tournament of the year was made Thursday. The main draw will start Monday.

Favorite picture of men in singles, Djokovic has a record of 57-2 in 2011. One of those defeats came at the hands of Federer in the semi-finals of France.

A year ago in Flushing Meadows, Djokovic beat Federer in the semifinals.

In the quarter-finals of this year, we could find favorite Djokovic to face seventh-seeded Gael Monfils, the No. 3 against the No. 8 Federer Mardy Fish, the No. 2 Nadal against the No. 5 David Ferrer and the No. 4 Murray against the No. 6 Robin Soderling.

In women, the triple champion Serena Williams American International could face the fourth-seeded Victoria Azarenka in the third round, while the double winner Venus Williams may have to be measured by the No. 22 Sabine Lisicki in the second round.

Azarenka and Lisicki reached the semifinals at Wimbledon last July.

After a short absent for almost a year because of a series of health problems, Serena Williams returned to the game in June and won two of the four tournaments she has participated. It will be the 28th-seeded New York, where the organizing committee has followed the ranking rather than take into account past performance in this tournament.
