Athletics: Teddy Tamgho preparing for the Games in Florida

PARIS (Reuters) – On Monday French triple jumper Teddy Tamgho, who was to resume training after a broken ankle in July, will prepare the U.S. for the London Olympics in 2012.

The French champion, aged 22, chose Gainesville, Florida as a place of preparation, with Cuban Ivan Pedroso coach, said the French Athletics Federation (FFA) in a statement on Monday.

“Teddy Tamgho and his coach will have suitable facilities and high quality of the University of Gainesville, but also ideal weather conditions in the region, the average temperature being around 22 degrees,” said the FFA.

The triple jumper, world champion and European Indoor, had a fractured ankle during the European Championships in Ostrava Hopes. He had to have surgery after being withdrawn from the world of Daegu (South Korea) in August.

It does not compete for the winter and summer should contain only four or five competitions before the Games, including the final of the club and the championships of France, said the FFA.
