Joey Ruiter Outdoes Himself with “Moto Undone” and his bike seems trivial at first. But once on the road, it becomes virtually invisible. Covered with an aluminum box that is almost a mirror, the fireball has nothing in common. Metro spoke with the creator of the Moto Undone, which can reach speeds of 50 km / h.
Why did you design an invisible motorcycle?
It’s a bit of a stylistic exercise. When you look at what is selling in stores, we realize that nothing is really fun … even if we stood in line to purchase certain products. On the road, on the Moto Undone, we do not see a person fly. It is a compact 70-lb you can even get to your apartment. It took me a month to build.
What causes reactions it?
Everyone is surprised and shocked to see it. One wonders: “But what’s that piece of metal floating?” I went near a school the other day and all the children stopped and looked at me as if I came from another planet.
It looks a bit like a big fridge …
Yes. Many people compare it also to a large toaster! I like these references as it shows that a single product.
How did you get the idea to create such a thing?
Today, our very identity is forged from the objects that surround us. You are what you wear, for example. But with this bike, it’s the opposite, it is invisible! A motorcycle should be used only to transport us and that’s what they do, full stop. The irony in all this is that it does talk a lot!
