Strawberry protects against gastric ulcers

Scientists reported that eating strawberries reduce the harm that alcohol can cause the stomach.

A group of Italian, Serbian and Spanish scientists has confirmed the protective effect of strawberries on the gastric mucosa with alcohol. The scientists were given ethanol to laboratory rats, and then found that the gastric mucosa of rodents that had regaled strawberries, suffered the least.

Sarah Tulipani of the University of Barcelona, explained that the salutary effects of strawberries are associated not only with its antioxidant activity, but also to the fact that the berries activate gastric enzymes, breaking down alcohol and not allowing it to damage the gastric mucosa.

Scientists claim that the delicious berries can even slow the progression of gastric ulcers or completely prevent it.
