“The Lion King 3-D” roared at the top of U.S. box office

LOS ANGELES, Calif.. – 3-D version of “Lion King” won the top box office in North America upon its release, earning $ 29.3 million, according to studio estimates at the following the weekend.

The original Disney cartoon released in 1994 had achieved the same performance at the time, winning first place with 40 million in revenue. It has become a classic, 17 years later, Disney decided to dust off the 3-D at the next exit for a Blu-ray.

The adventures of Simba dislodge the top of the table “Contagion” by Steven Soderbergh. This thriller about a deadly virus, with its galaxy of stars from Matt Damon Kate Winslet through Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow and Marion Cotillard, retrograde second place with $ 14.5 million of revenue (10.5 million euros) for a provisional total of $ 44.2 million.
