The drummer of AC / DC Phil Rudd while just sentenced to eight months of house arrest for threats and drug use, was again arrested Saturday night at his home in New Zealand.
Craig Tuck did not disclose the conditions of his arrest at his home in Tauranga, on the North Island, but according to the website of the NZ Herald, he was in the company of prostitutes. “All I can say is that he was arrested and he will appear Monday at 10:00 (2200 GMT Sunday) before the Tauranga District Court,” said the lawyer. Police have refused to confirm the arrest of the musician of 61 years.
During his conviction in early July, Judge Thomas Ingram had sent a stern warning to Phil Rudd if he violated the conditions of his probation, promising him that he would end if necessary behind bars. “I guarantee you that I would send them straight,” he warned.
Sentenced to death threats
Phil Rudd was sentenced for threatening to death his former security chief to whom he blamed poor organization of an event to launch his solo album “Head Job” in August 2014. He was also convicted of possession of drugs.
Phil Rudd was replaced by Chris Slade, drummer of AC / DC in the early 1990s, the last group of the promotional tour, “Golden Rock Bust”, currently in Europe.
Last May, Angus Young , guitarist, composer and co-founder of the group, explained that Rudd was no longer the man he had known in the 1970s with the creation of the group to the 200 million albums sold. “It’s a great drummer and he did a lot for us. But he let go. This is no longer the Phil we knew, “he said
This is the second change of musicians in AC / DC. Malcolm Young, guitarist and co-founder of the group with its brother Angus, is being treated for dementia since last year.
