British footballer David Beckham and wife Victoria gave birth to a baby girl (Harper Seven Beckham), their first after three boys, said a spokesman for the couple on Sunday.
“David and Victoria Beckham have the pleasure to announce the birth of their daughter,” said the spokesman, without specifying the baby’s name. “Happy and healthy, she arrived at 7:55 this morning at Cedars Sinai hospital in Los Angeles and weighs 3.45 pounds. Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz are delighted to welcome their little sister in the family,” said spokesman in a statement.
The former captain of England, aged 35, and his wife Victoria, 36, were married in 1999 and live in Los Angeles, where Beckham plays in the club LA Galaxy.
Victoria, a former member of the Spice Girls converted into a stylist, said in the past she had resigned herself to the idea of never having a daughter.
A few days ago the LA Galaxy star posted a picture of his heavily pregnant wife on Facebook. Beneath the image — which appeared to show his wife sunbathing — Beckham wrote: “Took this pic of Victoria while she wasn’t looking. She looks amazing, so close now to the baby being born!”
