Toyota recalls 550,000 cars for steering problems

TOKYO – On Wednesday Japanese carmaker Toyota said the recall of about 5520,000 cars in the world, but mainly in the United States for problems that could make the steering harder.

The recall involves 447,000 vehicles in North America, 38,000 in Japan,  14,000 in the rest of Asia, 25,000 in Australia and New Zealand, 14,000 in Europe and 10,000 in the Middle East, said the spokesman for Toyota, Dion Corbett. There have been no reports of accidents or injuries related to the problems, Corbett said.
